McNeill, others will not stay at Texas Tech under Tuberville

LUBBOCK, Texas — Tommy Tuberville is cleaning house at Texas Tech in the wake of the Mike Leach’s firing.
The school said Thursday that Ruffin McNeill, the defensive co-ordinator and interim head coach after Texas Tech suspended and then fired Leach last month, is leaving the program. McNeill came to Texas Tech with Leach in 2000 and was the only other candidate for the head coaching job that was filled by Tuberville.
Also not returning are inside receivers coach Lincoln Riley, running backs coach Clay McGuire, cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell and Eric Russell, who co-ordinated specials teams. Carlos Mainord, who coached the safeties, is retiring.

‘Slain in spirit’ case might impact church leaders

Michigan Supreme Court on Wednesday took up a local case that could affect what church leaders can say to their congregations.
Judith Dadd sued her pastor after she was injured while “slain in the Spirit” – falling backward after being “overcome by the Spirit of the Lord” – during a rally at Mount Hope Church in Delta Township in 2002.
At issue is whether Pastor Dave Williams later libeled or slandered Dadd, or if he was protected by “qualified privilege.” Qualified privilege allows someone with authority to make certain statements to members of an organization without being held liable…MORE
