Victims can get inmate information in Spanish

The online version of the Victim Information and Notification Everyday is now available in EspaƱol for New Yorkers.
The state Department of Correctional Services is making data on incarcerated offenders on its VINELink page available in Spanish in order to help Spanish-speaking crime victims. The move makes New York the first state to offer an online Spanish notification system.
“Victims who would call the helpline could get service in Spanish if they wanted, but not if they went online,” said Erik Kriss, director of public information at DOCS. “Advocates too would tell us that it was a good idea to have an online system in Spanish, and we liked the idea.”
